The FMA Conference has been held annually since 1961 and is the most respected flood risk management event held in Australia.
The 2021 Conference in Sydney marks the 60th Anniversary of FMA, and will celebrate the history of the organisation, the Members that make the network possible, and the phenomenal advances in flood risk management.
The 2021 Floodplain Management Australia National Conference will be held at Luna Park, Sydney from Wednesday 26th to Friday 28th May 2021, with optional pre-conference workshops on Tuesday 25th May.
In addition to the traditional face-to-face format of the Conference, FMA is preparing virtual content that can be accessed by those unable to attend in person, including overseas delegates.
Presenters can be assured that the Conference will proceed in May 2021 despite ongoing uncertainties related to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Should the in-person format in Sydney become untenable for these reasons, the entire event will be held online.
The theme of the conference, “Essential knowledge for a flood resilient future”, will focus on the latest developments and achievements in flood and emergency management to assist in identifying, planning for and managing flood risks, and building disaster resilient communities.
