The Conference Committee is now calling for papers for the 2019 Floodplain Management Australia National Conference, hosted by the ACT Government.
The theme for this year’s conference is “A National Call to Action: Making Australia Flood Safe”, which will focus on bringing together various partners and sharing great research and ideas to set a clear and compelling vision, mission and priorities for the flood community of Australia.
We are looking for a range of high-quality presentations from across Australia and overseas dealing with riverine, overland and flash flooding, coastal inundation, emergency response and community engagement. The content can be technical or non-technical to suit our varied audience, so you don’t need to be a “flood expert” to present at the conference. Tertiary students studying floodplain management or natural disaster management are particularly encouraged to participate.
The subject of the presentation should align with one or more of the following topic areas.
- National collaboration and coordination
- Communicating flood hazard and risk
- Flood prediction and warning
- Land use planning
- Infrastructure projects and asset management
- Climate adaptation
- Flood policy, guidance and best practice
- Social and cultural aspects
- Emergency preparedness and management
- Flood stories and case studies
- Environmental aspects
