"Making Communities Safer in Times of Flood" written by Chas Keys is the story of the Floodplain Management Authorities of New South Wales.
Chas Keys worked for 15 years for the NSW State Emergency Service, holding the position of Deputy Director General for the last seven of them. His principal interests were in preparing communities and SES units for floods and in the management of real-time flood responses. In retirement he is a consultant on flood management and has written books on the SES and the Floodplain Management Authorities. He is currently coordinating the revision of a number of national flood management manuals and writing a book on flooding and its management in the Maitland area.
